Charlie (00:18)
All right, welcome back to another episode of the Blitz the Bookie podcast. I'm Charlie Winkle joined as always by Anthony Roberts. Today is Tuesday, January the 21st and Ohio State is the college football national champions. It's their first title since 2014.

First half kind of looked like it might be a blowout, but Notre Dame clawed back in the second half and made it into a really good entertaining championship for college football fans did get a little scary for us. Ohio state betters. The line was anywhere from eight to maybe nine and a half, depending on when and where you got it. I had it at eight. So I was sitting on a push on quite a few bets.

there before that field goal. But in the end, Ryan Day and the Buckeyes win the national championship and cover the spread for their betters. That's what really matters, right? No And Anthony, before we really get started, props to you. You had it from the beginning of the year. You called it.

You said Ohio state was the best team at the beginning of the year. You stuck by it all year and it came to be true. That was a good pick It was, I was able to a few futures. I enjoy the future bets. You know that. they're fun bets. You can bet them early and kind of a ticket that gives you action all year long. don't get your money for a while, but fun bets. I've had.

future bets the last two or three years have no clue why I did not make one future bet in college football or the NFL this of pissed about that. right guys. Thank you all for listening. As always. We appreciate you taking the time out of your day to check us out. All right, Anthony, before we get into all the football yesterday was a big day. It was. Yesterday was Monday. Big day for America. We won't get into the politics, but USA, USA. Great day to be an American. No

I watched a lot of you. Did you watch any of it? I watched more of the inauguration yesterday than I ever have in my life. I watched a little bit of Look, I'm a conservative. I'll say I've always believed that you support whoever's in office. I've said that even when lot of my conservative friends didn't agree with that. whoever's in office, you should get behind them. And I've always believed that I always will. So

let's get behind Trump. The economy is a little rough right now, guys. If you work in sales, you're a contractor, whatever you are, you can fill it. You're going to the grocery store. It's tough. I'm not blaming that on nobody, you know. But all I'm saying is I think everybody, I think the people spoke during the election. people were ready for a change this works out. thought he did

very good job last time with the economy. Let's see if he can get it turned back around now because the economy does need some help right now. I don't know how fast he can get it done. Don't even know if he can get it done, but my faith's in him. My hope's in him. confidence is in him. go get it. I love what Trump did last time. I think he's going to do a great job this time, but what gives me even more hope is that I feel like the other side is actually

halfway supporting him now. think they had I think their party spoke. He was able to get a decent amount of those voters to come over to the other I'm not even so much talking about the voters. I'm talking about the actual politicians. Democrats are going to work with them a lot more this time.

He didn't have a shot the first time everybody was against him. Sure. They even talked about it in the inauguration. How last time during his inauguration, there was protest outside and all kinds of craziness. And this one was more of a celebration. And I do think that the other side politically is going to be more willing to work with him on issues this time around. know, you know, in my opinion, Charlie, the reason that that that that is. That's the greatest thing about our political system.

It kind of corrects itself. Whenever one side goes too far right or the other side goes too far left, the people talk, the people vote and bring you back in order. And I think that's what happened. the other side just went a little bit too far outside of the realm of whatever everyday people want. And, election happened and the people spoke. So if you're a politician on the other side, I think you had no choice.

but to work and try to change. Cause if not, you're going to keep losing elections. so Republicans had to do it different times, maybe even did a little bit last time. I thought last time they kind of got beat on the internet game, but whatever they need to do, whatever changes they need to make, they'll make it cause they're politicians and that's on both sides. And those votes that they lost this time, they have four years to try to get those votes back. And working with Trump,

a little better this time will help them some of those supporters back. Trump will be out of years. So it'd be a fresh great day to be, be an American. It really was. I had fun watching it. I'm 43 years old and have really never got into the

inauguration, but I thought it was pretty cool. I probably watch every time now If I'm not working, it was zero degrees yesterday. So I wasn't working yesterday is probably the reason I was watching it. all right on from the politics. That's it. That's all you if you want your politic fix, you're to have to go somewhere else. Anthony.

There was also some NFL. We'll get into the football here just in a little bit. We don't have a ton of football. got two, two championship games in the NFL and college football is over. we'll look back at the championship game and of course, preview the NFL games before we get into that. I know we had and a little idea of talking about some of crazy bets.

that we've heard of in the past, or maybe even that we've, that we've made on our own. Yeah. Before we get into it. So we were talking last night on the phone for five or 10 minutes about possibly talking about this, this topic. And when we get off the phone, five minutes later, I get on tick tock. And the post that I see on tick tock is about some crazy as bet some crazy

parlay ticket. got to turn this stuff on your phone off. Yeah. Don't just be scared of the Chinese. We got to be scared of our own people too. Cause they're listening into they're all listening. It's crazy how it does that though. mean, it's not like it's that's the first time I've ever noticed that. I know they do that, but it was just, remember when it first started doing it, like when they first start using that technology and that kind of marketing, it freaked me out. I remember it freaked me out. Then I found out my brother told me you could turn it off.

He turns it off on all his stuff. I leave it on. So it's kind of nice. I mean, it markets to you, things you're talking about, things that are in your life at that moment. But at the same time, it's like, in your lane, stay in your lane. Yeah, it is a little scary. So I'll start off with the one I saw and unless you want to start, Anthony, no, on tick tock and

Very first post I see is before you get started, I think these stories are only gonna get bigger and better with the big wins Because now betting is legal in a lot of places. So people are spending little amounts of money to play these big parlay's. Years ago, game one was kind of vanilla. You couldn't play a...

25 team parlay if you could not all websites allowed you to do that. not all bookies allowed you to do that. Nobody would have the money to pay it out. But now with the, draft Kings and all these big companies involved, you can essentially play a million dollar parlay. I think can't you Charlie? guess you could years ago, you couldn't do that yeah, because your local bookie is not paying that. No.

So the bet that I saw and going to be completely honest here. I don't know if this is real. It almost seems like it's not. It's on the internet. how crazy this ticket is. 14 leg parlay, 85 cents. This person bet to win $147,000.

being 85 cents. Do you think it was his last 85? I'm going to say this is last 85. had to be. I do stuff like that. Sometimes everybody does. If I got let's just say I got $54 and 27 cents in my account. Well, I'm probably going to have a $54 and 27 cent bet. Yep. Or I could see if something crazy happened, maybe a 27 cent bet, which I don't know that I've ever done, but it had to be that 85 cents.

Unless you're just making cent, 75, 85 cent bets. But some people do do that. for those people, that's awesome. You know, first thing with the new betting technology and the casinos online, that allows a player that maybe can't afford to play bigger bets. A buddy of mine, he bets like five dollars a game, some people might why waste your time? that's what's good for him.

the bad amount does not matter. doesn't matter if your budget is $50. You can bet a week and you're looking to make 200 bucks and you make 125. You're a winner, dude. Yeah, you're probably not lose because you're not betting $100 or $1,000 a game. Everybody can't do that. It's not always about the money either. It's about the victory.

You bet what you're willing to lose and everybody's different when it comes, you know, bookies for years. some bookies would have like $30 minimums, $40 you had to bet that or they weren't going to take it. Well, for some people, maybe they're a $10 better or a $15 better. And so for them, that's what that's what's great about the new stuff. So look at this number real

You're about 150,000 to one because that's almost a dollar. It's 147,000. So essentially It's 173,000 to one is what it is. 173,000 to one. Yep.

That's a big one. I would love to hear 14 legs 173,000 to one. It looks like they finished it off with a future bet on Ohio State to win the championship last night. That was their final leg. the somebody let it go all the way. They didn't cash out. You think the hedged or they

I'm not sure it looks like they won. It looks like they won it. I'm would say they were a nervous wreck. You had to make a hedge bet on that, right? Yeah, I made a hedge bet on yeah, I can only imagine what they did. So here's some other bets on it that are Let me make you sick for a second. So that's 170 73,000 to one odds, which are great odds. We would only dream to hit something that big.

this will make you sick, probably never wanna play the Powerball ticket again. Odds of winning the Powerball, one in 292 million to get that combination correctly. That's not happening. Some of these bets on this ticket, I don't even know what they are. One of them just says West versus East. I'm not, February 18th, maybe that's the, maybe that was the.

NBA All-Star game last year had to be over 363. It had to be. So they had, they had like the over in that they had some, looks like some fights. had Yukon to win the national championship last year, future bet at plus six 50, the bucks at plus one 60 to win the division last year. Then they had just some random teams to win the division. four or five, it looks like in basketball, 14 picks.

That's cool. like the question though. Why was it 85 cents last? The girl on the video, she asked that same thing. How, why would you bet 85 cents? And that was my first thought is that was your, that was your leftover. That was just a mess around bet. Could you imagine that? I couldn't, I've never even had anything close to that you know, we had that pick six, Charlie, if you remember that pick six we had for

If I remember I'll never forget. Yeah that happened for the listeners out there. We might have talked about it in our podcast. I don't remember this past summer. We were setting out at Charlie's pool out there with our families and we're just betting horses. It day at Churchill Downs maybe a bigger day. I don't remember but we ended up playing a pick six. much wind up throwing up a piece Charlie's $120 ticket. Okay, so we threw up 60 bucks a piece on a 20 cents.

pick six. So you get a lot of coverage on 20 cents, but the payouts also get lower. So keep that in mind when me and Charlie were picking them. The races are going through. We're winning. We're getting some decent prices. Seven, eight to one. Well, one of the races, third race, I'd had a 60 to one horse. I It came in and I think it was 51 or 52 to one and it got real, real quick.

A lot of people had dropped out because if you know how these pick sixes go, the pick fives pick sixes when that long shot comes in and you got it. Lot of losing tickets out there. did. Don't let people drop out. The only thing I think has saved it a little bit. It was the 20 cents version. There's the 20 cents. Some places have a 50 cents and then some places have a dollar.

So for people that don't play horses, I think behind this, if it's a dollar pick six, that's the minimum bet. There is not going to be as many winners. It's probably going to pay out on five out of six because there's not as many combinations. The ticket we had for 20 cents, that would have been a six or $700 ticket for a dollar, that we played for 120. So people don't get the same amount of coverage. So with all that being said, me and Charlie, we got through all the legs, pick long shots.

some solid prices in there. We got down to the last leg. We had three horses. it was an eight or nine horse field. Of the three horses, we had the favorite, the seven to five favorite. That's almost even money. We had a five to one horse and we had like a 18 to one horse. The seven to five favorite was gonna pay like $20,000. That was our lowest payout. 20,000. The best one I thought was the five to one.

A five to one horse to win like $60,000. Five to one horse to win like, I mean, five to one horses. 58,000. And there was only like eight or nine horses in the race. It was nine. We had three of them. you know, the other one I think was paying like 70,000. It 68,000 was the top payout. 58,000 and 20,000. That was it. We had three shots out of nine.

we didn't win. Not only did we not win the longest shot on the board, it was like a 24 to one won the race. Yes. We did not hedge. We were feeling so good about our picks that day that we did not hedge. That is my major regret. Definitely should have hedged when there was only nine. We only had six others to buy and there wasn't any other big favorites. That's really the only way we could have did it.

Horse racing is really hard to hedge. The only way we would have benefited if the longer shot hit or one of the longer shots hit and it did. Yeah, it did. 24 to one broke our heart. Might never get that shot again. It was hard to get over that Charlie. it was a, it was a fun run to have a legit shot at three big time prices like that. Let me just tell you, it was about 20, 23 minutes in between that.

second to last in the last race. And me and Anthony probably wore out a strip on my floor from pacing so much in those 20 minutes. And my neighbors were out outside that same day and they probably thought we were absolutely nuts because when that 50 to one hit, we were running around crazy in my backyard screaming the whole neighborhood probably heard us. that was a funny one that I, Anthony, I just hope to.

have even a chance at something half of that again one day because the feeling of when those horses broke out of that. That would be cool to win that was unbelievable to have that chance to win that that much money. It was kind of fun. Anyways, it yes, the money was important. It was a good chunk of money, but it was a it was an experience too. It was pretty cool. So talking about a pick six. Here's one real quick though. Yeah, about

Two weeks after that, I hit a pick five on a I remember you telling me about that, yeah. $12 ticket. Loving it. Messing around. $12 ticket. And it overpaid pretty good, didn't it? $7,000. If I remember correctly, it didn't look like it was going to pay $7,000, correct? No, it didn't. But I had a long shot in that last race. Sometimes it happens that way. Ori. I'll never forget it. O-R-I. If you ever see O-R-I, the horse Ori, bet it.

And horse racing you're betting against pools of other bets. So sometimes you just get lucky and even though their odds aren't real big Somebody else just might not have that combination. So that was pretty awesome Charlie. I tell you a bad story on that for people that are just getting in the game when you can look it up. It's on YouTube a Guy I had a pick six so that's where you pick six in a row Just like me and Charlie did going into the last leg at Gulfstream was a dollar pick six He was gonna win like six hundred thousand dollars or

You might have to look that up, but it was something crazy big like that. I think it was like somewhere around a half million dollars. He was in his last leg of the race. His horse is literally drawing off. In horse racing, means it's pulling away. They're almost at the finish line. He's in victory formation. And the jockey falls off. It looks like he jumps off. This happened think it was like 10 years ago. It's on pick six.

Jockey falls off. If you Google that, it'll come up. How mad would you be, Charlie? showing up at the track wanting to fight somebody. You seen the video, didn't you? It looked like he jumped think last night after the game, Van Pelt does his bad beats? Yep. shows a little video loop at the beginning of it. I want to say he shows that. That's probably the worst one I've ever heard

Right before the finish line. I mean right before the finish line. I probably would have accused it with no other horses in the frame. You know, I accuse them of cheating anyway, so that's something else. Yeah, it was bad the one I remember most I think about these stories there's always that story that FedEx guy, story goes you can google this too

of FedEx, guy that started Fred Smith back in 1973. He wasn't going to be able to make payroll. Had $5,000 left in his account, I think he needed to make like a $20,000 payroll. They were already kind of maxed out. The company was right there on the edge not making it, but he needed just survive and kind of get him a lifeline to that next week. Things were that tight. And he took that $5,000, went out to Vegas.

won like 25, $30,000, was able to make payroll, give him a little time. This was in 73, so money was a little bigger. He got his legs under him. FedEx survived. It is the company it is today. So kind of a wild little story there. I've heard that. I don't know. Is there a documentary on that? I don't know. If there's not, there should be. No, it's have heard that story. I hadn't heard it in a while until you brought it up

But feel like maybe there is a documentary on it. was a good day. That's One more, I got all these. I've been around game with so much, my greatest victory ever. It went my biggest victory. but it was my greatest victory ever. I'm 17 years old, Charlie at the OTB for people that don't know to be as off track betting back in the day. That's what they called it.

If you wanted to bet horse you wanted to go bet other tracks, but they were on TVs. That was kind of a new thing at the time. They had a place where the, actually the casino is now here in was working at KFC, Charlie. Wouldn't make him much money. I'd worked all kinds of hires. I made like a $400 paycheck for two weeks. Probably worked a lot of hires. After school, wasn't even old enough to bet, but I was in there betting and they allowed me to bet.

I'd lost all 400 of it. I was walking out of the place sad, lost two weeks worth of work, high school kid, wasn't even old enough to bet. Borderline wanted to go ask for my money back, but I wasn't raised that way. walking out there just head down. That was a lot of money to me at 17 years old. Had $1 in my pocket. walking out the doors. There's this little spot by the end. I had $1 in my pocket. Someone bet me a dollar straight.

super at Sam Houston no box because I couldn't afford to box never forget they were like all six to one all four of them were like six to one it hit straight paid like $600 it was right around the tax amount

Dude, that was the greatest victory for me. I was broke. Dude, I was broke. I just lost my just sad and took a dollar and turned it 600. That was cool as Greatest victory ever for me. off of $1, that's Yeah, especially when you're 17, 16 and you're broke. You just spent your money that you worked for for two weeks because you're a degenerate gambler at 16 and 17. You weren't even, I wasn't even old enough to gamble. Then you get

600 to 1 odds on your last bet. I'll tell you how bad it was. I didn't even have enough courage to go cash the ticket because I was scared they were going to try to keep the ticket on me. And I had my mind made up. If they did that to me, I was going to ask for my money back that I'd lost as an underage better. But then I knew I'd get banned out of there. I didn't want that. So I went and gave it to my dad. My dad came up there and cashed it. Yeah, don't do that. I know somebody that banned theirself from a similar place to that.

It's a lifetime. Yeah. can't get out for life. Don't lie unless you want to unless you want some people. Yeah. You need to do it. Yeah. But I do know that that cannot be reversed. So I don't know if Churchill's like that, but casinos are like that. Yeah. some good stories we wanted to share with y'all. we've been around gambling a long time and going to get your own stories. If you're just new to gambling, you're going to have your stories. you know, you have your mortgage payment.

You only got half of it. You need to get double it up so you can make the full one. Your wife don't know about it. You got it on a ball game and you're in there sweating it out. you'll have your story soon enough. And if you might already have some, you'll be like, you'll be like your boy in Al Pacino and two for the money. You ever seen two for the money? Pacino and McConaughey.

You've never seen that? I think I have. think I have. Yeah, it's a great movie. It's actually McConaughey plays Brandon Lang, who Brandon Lang is supposedly a big time handicapper. the movie is really good. Pacino's character gets all caught up and he's making, Brandon Lang or McConaughey is playing Brandon Lang. and Pacino's guy gets all caught up and make

know, just betting on his picks, loses pretty much all of his money until that last game where McConaughey, comes through with the big pick and everybody wins at the end. But it's not how it always ends. No, it's not how it always ends. never forget one time I was probably 19, 20. I'll leave it at this. I got into a bookie for like four or $5,000. Had no business, but that much money. But I did.

And we had been paying each other back and forth when losing. I remember going to him and him. I gave him two grand. I actually had the money to pay him, but it was going to break me at the time. Like all the money I had saved, I didn't want that. So I took him like $2,000. These guys, I was scared to death of them. But I manned up. I went in there, told him. actually handled it really well. And once I paid him off, they always had a lot of respect for me.

that I paid my debt and came in there like a man and settled it up. So where'd you have to go in like the back room? pretty much. Yeah, no, I really did. I was scared. I was scared, but I had 2000. So I thought at least they know I got something here, a manned up and did it. And those guys always told me this is when bookies were big. They said, if you ever need another bet up your money, you know, your credit was always good here. Was it where were you at the bottom being or you was at the?

To go biddies? Yeah, somewhere like that. Back room? Back room. It literally was a back room. You scared as shit. I was. Already sick about losing that much money. Chasing. Chasing money. Guaranteed. We've all been there. I think it was March Madness, Charlie. I literally think, I bet 10 games. In my mind, I was thinking, I got some playbacks there. You know, all this won't go bad. I think I was losing every game like on last second shots. And I just, it just...

It unfolded right in front of my eyes. went like, and sucks. Yeah, sucks. We've all been there, but in all seriousness, guys, we all gamble. We all have fun with it, but do it responsibly. I've always said, I'm not willing to lose my paycheck. Now, when I was younger, it was a lot different, but now I do gamble. love gambling.

but I don't like losing. So I limit my losses for sure. Make sure you do that guys. Don't lose everything you got. The money is one thing you'll end up losing everything. Your marriage, everything. It's not worth all that. I love gambling, my kids know that I but I do try to not hide it, but I try to at least kind of hide it. I don't like Rex gambling.

I grew up around it as a kid, Charlie, and I've let him gamble a few times, but you know, a lot of people think, well, you don't let him, no, I don't because I grew up around it. When I was a kid, I lost a lot of money. was an undisciplined gambler. I was just learning. You learn a lot. because look, this is just like a drug. actually went to GA for like, when I was like 21 years old, gamblers mom,

told me to go there. ended up going there. I wasn't ordered or nothing. And I went there and the guy said, you know, I've been addicted to crack cocaine. He says only so much of that that I can do before I pass out. He said, I can go in a casino and lose every bit of money I got tonight. Listen, guys, I've seen it happen. I've seen it happen to people that I care about and love. I've seen people lose retirements. And you don't hear about this because we don't have draft Kings and stuff as sponsors. This is one of my biggest arguments. I'm happy there's gambling now legal.

But one of the drawbacks and the reason people voted against it for so many years was because how will affect the families? And I think you will start to see that a little bit that, people having problems with it, maybe spending too much money on it and stuff like that. I hope we don't see those problems, but it definitely hits you like a drug. All right, let's get into the gambling. Let's do it so we can get our fix in.

I got, I won some money last night, Anthony. want some money. How about you? yep. want some money. Yep. Let's get into that game. Notre Dame. The opening drive was impressive. I thought it took everything you had out of them though, Charlie, but yeah, they grinded it out. I thought if they're going to win.

This is how they're going to have to win. And that's what I said it last week on the episode. They needed to find a way to play from ahead. They did for about three minutes. They did. And once Ohio State Look, in my honesty, Charlie, I know Notre Dame had an interesting but I feel like a big part of that was just Ohio State got conservative. had that. They had that turnover down there to Notre Dame.

Got a third and 19 pass interference call. They converted like three or four fourth downs and still even that I felt like Ohio State was all right. So, they made it interesting idea. They did make an drive for Ohio State's defense is almost what they needed because they got kicked in the teeth on that first drive. Riley Leonard looked like a bowling ball out there doing whatever he wanted. They drove right down.

Took a long time. Would they take like 10 minutes? Yeah, there was. State didn't even get the ball until like six minutes left in the first quarter. But I think it was exactly what their defense needed because when they came out for that next possession, it looked completely different. It looked like they made big time adjustments just like that. Yep, they did. And they also got their first holding call against the offensive line.

This is going to be a stat I told you about it earlier. I'm going to tell the listeners about it. Look it up. It's real. It's one of my gripes, especially in the college football playoff, but throughout college football season. Now we had a listener that I actually thought it was in the NFL too, but it's not. and what I'm talking about is the holding calls on the offensive line.

And I guess a lot of that's with the mobile quarterback that they're getting more holding penalties now in the NFL compared to last year. But in college football, I bet you there were six or seven the whole college football playoff. were down across the board in college football. But here's the stat that's crazy. The Ohio State Buckeyes, one of the best defensive lines in the country, if not the best defensive line. A defensive line led by Jack Sawyer, one of the best rushers in college football.

Ohio State gets after the quarterback and the run game as good as anybody on defense. But in saying that, 728 consecutive defensive plays where the opposing team was not called for offensive holding. 728 plays. It dates back to the Marshall game, 14 games back in the season, almost to the very beginning of the season.

Not one offensive line had been called for holding against Ohio State. That's an unbelievable stat. It's what it is. It's college football. the offensive linemen are able to hold more than ever. they're wrapping their arms around them. So of course everybody knows about that. The offensive line coaches. So of course they're telling them to do it more. doing it so these teams can pass the ball.

It makes it easier to pass the ball. just does. But 728 plays, but they did get Notre Dame did get offensive holding against Ohio State last night. So the Marshall game. 14 games. Yeah. 728 plays second or third game of the year. Yes. Yes. And I think the only reason he got it's cause he bitched about it all week. He was working for one call a week. Ryan day I'm talking about. is a pretty wild stat.

is. I try to pinpoint like how that happens or it's college. It's college football. Yeah, but that's one team you're talking about. Yeah, but that happened to other teams. Yes, that is unreal. So it's a crazy especially especially with that good a defensive line, but it was across the board in college football it had to be where the whoever the head of the said

Hey guys, we want to see more passing. We want to see me clean their pockets for these quarterbacks. You know, I would say we want to see these quarterbacks protected, but like Brady said, they're not trying to protect them because you got all of them running. it's not about protecting them. It's about points in a row is weird. It almost seems unbelievable, Charlie, but it's like, if that's overall, then that means

Maybe not 14 games, but maybe you got other teams that are going five, six, seven games without getting, that's even five, six or seven games in a row without having a hold and call on your defense. It's kind of weird. One game. I know it is. don't even know why I'm saying five and six. I watched the Texas Arizona State game with all that pressure Texas got on them, there wasn't one time that Arizona State held them.

I don't believe watch if you're watching the games and I'm not saying they haven't always held some I know that we've always allowed them to get their hands in these guys are going around the shoulder pads now I mean just watch them what they're allowing them or what to get away with it's ridiculous I'll go back to what I believe is that they want to see passing They want to see yards. They want to see points Nobody appreciates a run game, even though the run game is kind of got back in style and I fell this year

wants to see half line offense and points because if you don't hold like that, you can't create clean pockets like that. Quarterbacks have to make quick decisions. So seven, nothing quick lead for Notre Dame, but Ohio state comes right back 11 plays, 75 yards and they answer with a score. And then after that in the first half, it got out of hand.

It did kind of turned into a little bit of a domination there. It looked like it was going to get really ugly. Even in the third quarter, was 31, seven when no house, they fumbled that ball and they fumbled the ball and Notre Dame's 20. So they were going to score again. Yeah, it could have been 38 to seven and over. That was right at the point I went upstairs. That was at the end of the third quarter.

At the end of the third quarter, the last thing that happened at the end of the third quarter was Ohio State had the ball and it was an incomplete pass. Gonna put them in like third and long and they got that rough in the passer on Will Howard, gave him an automatic first down, went to the break, going to the fourth quarter. I went upstairs, put my kids to bed, come back down. Notre Dame's got the ball on like the 30. And I had no clue what happened. I had to get on ESPN and look.

the game would have been well out of reach at 38 to seven, but it wasn't. They fumbled and they answered 31 to 15, but even at 31 to 15, I still thought it was, I still thought it was over, but Ohio state went conservative. They probably should have. I mean, it was, the time was running out. They had to get three scores and three.

in 30 conversions. I'm not saying they were wrong by going conservative because that I won on the Yeah, so the missed field goal Notre Dame had a missed field goal. then come back and would they get that long touchdown? The great house touchdown 30 yard touchdown that put them within 10 and then they went for the two and got the two the two point made all us Ohio State betters nervous idea.

I had them at eight, what'd you have them? Nine and a half. But my money, my real money was in the future bets, which was Moneyline. But, now I did hedge Notre Dame for like 250, which I was getting plus 325. So I would still won about, I think it was close to a thousand if Notre Dame won, just because I was getting plus three something on the odds there. But I definitely need Ohio State to win Moneyline. And I had a lot of my bets started this week, but there's not a lot of games.

So, you know, I had multiple game parlay's. I had a lot of them started with Ohio State. So I didn't want to have to go redo them again. So that was kind of nice for them to get the cover. Yep. So they scored to cut it to eight there with what? Right at two minutes. Yep. Ohio State then gets the ball pretty much needs what? Maybe one, two first downs, I think. Yep. They got one. They got the one and they

they keep it in Will Howard's hand. They're playing super conservative, super conservative. That last drive, this drive that we're talking about now, this is the drive that won Will Howard the MVP. I agree. Because without this drive here, the, Judkins? Yeah. The boy from Mississippi. Yeah. Three, three touchdowns. He would have got that MVP, but this drive of course was finished off by the

big time throw on Third and 11. I they could have it on the, on their own 34. I truly believe they could have done I understand why they went conservative because there was only so much time left. Well, you just went for one or two first downs right there. Yeah. As soon as they needed to score, they were able to score. They didn't throw it until that third and 11. No, they ran. Will Howard run? Will Howard run? Will Howard run?

Howard run they kept it in his hands too. hanging it out. Judkins got the first carry on that drive on first down and then Howard one, two, three, three in a row until that third down. Third and 11 they go deep through a great pass. Yeah he did. Howard played really good. Of am I doing at that point when they catch that?

Counting the second. I'm counting the seconds. I was. How many times have we done that in the past couple weeks? feel like we've done it like four or five times in the past two weeks. And we'll get into that some with the NFL here in a minute. I was counting totally in my head real quick. We got the two minute warning. I'm trying to figure it out. And I think we got this. We got this. seconds left. And in my head, I'm like, they ain't gonna run around for 15 seconds, are they?

They ain't gonna try to run around and throw this thing up into the stands like Arizona State did a handful of weeks back, are they? No, it came down to the kick. Just a little too much time left. They had to kick the field goal. they didn't really talk about it on the TV, but he kind of squeaked that in there. Yeah, yeah. I feel like he good about it though. I felt like... He was angling in, boy, it got kind that goal post. Well, know, Will Howard went that way on purpose. set up for the kicker. That must be a kick that it.

He's comfortable with there's a close for my comfort. I don't think it, it registered to anybody cause the kick was so short and it got there quick, but man, it a little too close for my comfort. they, you know, they got it. And they got the cover there. Ryan day, got the monkey off his congratulations. The Ryan day. I've always thought Ryan day was a good He's guy he played for organs X

Chip Kelly also coached the He was his OC this year. Miranda has done awesome at Ohio State, but of course he's struggled against Michigan. But he's done awesome in the other games. But there's people, he was actually, you know, people saying he should be on the hot seat. I didn't agree with that. I know he's had the bug against Michigan, but he's had him top five in the country almost every year.

They need to shut up for a while. Would you agree with that? yeah. Yeah. When international title. Yeah. He's got a, he's got free pass now for a long time. Does chip Kelly stay with him or does chip Kelly move on? Did you see the stat last night they put on the screen during the game of the, win percentage. He's got the third best win percentage in college football history. I guarantee it. He's got a good one. He don't lose much. So yeah, the championship he's got a free pass for I'd say five years. Maybe at a while. Stay maybe in two years though.

You know who I feel bad for? Who's that? My boy. Who's that? Kyle McCord. Kyle McCord is was sitting at home last night thinking I could have done that. Maybe I feel bad for that kid because he's a good player. I like Will Howard. I like him a lot. McCord wasn't running the ball like that. But

Is he that much better than McCord? McCord might have been, I mean, McCord's probably the better passer. How much does that add being able to be a runner? Look, there's no doubt in my mind that McCord is a good passer. And he's up there in that Syracuse offense where they pass it all the time. The guy was a five-star quarterback coming out of high school. He can sling it, but he was very limited athletically, very limited. they did him wrong, man. How many games they lose last year? He left. One, two.

Ran him out. He didn't leave my ass. ran his ass out. He did leave. but I'm with you. They ran him out. never did understand it because I didn't think the reason they lost or their offense struggle last year was their defense was stout last year. Their offense struggled at last year. Well, congrats to Ryan day. Ohio state congrats to Notre Dame. Yeah. They had a good year.

Two big spenders. Good coach. Good upcoming young coach. I like the guy a lot. I did think it was little bonehead play there halfway through the third quarter. fake punt on your own 37 yard line. I think they only got a field goal out of that. But still, I guess he was kind of thinking like like I was watching this game is probably about over.

Yeah, I would have thought that though as a that was, a bad move. maybe it ended up cost them, but I don't think that's what caused them the game. It's just not, don't play different quarter. Yeah, I get it. But it was, there was a handful of minutes left in the third quarter. I want to say half of the third quarter was left when he did that. I thought that was probably the, the one boneheaded thing he's done the whole playoffs because he's coached really good.

I like some of the moves that he's made wise throughout the playoffs. And Notre Dame, They got money. Yeah, they got money. They got money. They're going to continue to get money with the way it's set up and they don't have to share any of that money with any other teams. they're going to benefit more than anybody. They're just going to keep reloading every single year. No doubt. I'm not as big on Freeman as you are. And I'm not saying I think he's horrible. I think he had two of the best-

coordinators in the country working for him and golden and what's his face that was at LSU in the Bengals. He got a lot of pump last night. Dunbrook. They talked about him a lot. got a lot of who's that Freeman? No, Dunbrook. yeah. He got a lot of camera time.

the guy can coach.

Yeah, so congratulations to both of them. Good game. I'm glad Notre Dame back and at least made it a little bit just as a football fan. I agree with that. No doubt. I don't like seeing the blowout. I like one of my I kind of thought my bet was in my back pocket there and then they came back. like I said, Charlie sent me the text domination. Put the jinx on right there. It was always,

It was domination at that point. I looked at my son. said Charlie done put the jib. My son, my son thinks it's over once they get a 10 point lead. Seven. Seven it's over. It's over. Does Charlie do that or is he pretty, does he understand? Like he, Rex understands it, he just thinks just cause somebody got the lead, it's done. No, I think Charlie and Nate actually, when they were going to bed last night, even though I do think it was kind of a ploy to maybe get me to try to let

stay up a little bit longer. Right. They said, oh, they can still come back. They can still. Oh, yeah. I said, and I said, I don't know. And as soon as I come back down. Oh, I think Rex does it to make me mad because he knows I'm always telling him you finish the game even more playing you finish the game. No leads too big. He tries to do opposite of whatever I say, Charlie. I've told you a thousand times, but the boy just if he thinks it can get under my skin, he'll do it.

well, sadly, that ends the college football season. Sad, sad, Going to be what? Eight months until we get some more college football. Spring practice to be here. Not too far away. Little bit of football, we got three games left in the NFL, and then it's on the college basketball and opening day of baseball. That's what I'll be looking forward to next.

But yeah, it's going to be a while for some college football. It's sad that it's over, but it was a fun season. Anthony was all over Ohio State at the beginning of the year. Good pick, dude. appreciate it. onto the NFL. Some good games last week, much better than the wild card. Actually, before we get on, you said you told me something earlier.

Only one underdog in the whole college football playoff. One underdog covered covered all the favorites actually won the game money line. Yes. Every favorite won the game. Check me on that, but I'm almost positive. That's what it is guys. So if one of the listeners says I'm wrong, but I don't think I'm wrong. who went off the favorite, the Notre Dame Georgia game. Notre Dame went off the favorite, right? Yeah, they did. I think they were minus one. Yeah.

I think you're right. yeah, Notre Dame went off the favorite in the Notre Dame Penn State game, Notre Dame went off the favorite, correct? Yeah, I think they were minus one. So yeah, the favorite actually won every game and it covered every game besides the Texas Arizona State game.

covered every game except one and won every game. Pretty crazy to me the performance of the playoffs. would bet Texas again against them. I think it was a one-off, but maybe it wasn't but I will tip my hat to the guy both of them Levitt and Scataboo from Arizona State performance of the playoff. I still at it was like surreal. I seen a guy throwing up yelling,

running over people quarterback wiggling out of crazy pressure. then the four foot eight running back scataboo going out for a seven 60 70 yard pass over the shoulder that don't happen guy has like looks like Mike Tyson short arm short legs. that was the performance of the playoff hands down. He actually got the MVP of that game being on the losing team. How often does that happen Charlie? rare.

Yeah, it yet Jake the snake plumber over there had them all fired up I kept wanting the doctor to go out over and check out scataboo. I knew he was concussed but Arizona State said let him play But you know doctors should probably be in trouble. There's no doubt. He was concussed, right? There's no doubt Charlie. He looked like it or that on steroids roaring now or something I don't know. a big hit and then he went over and threw up and start yelling I mean it was

Well, looks like Vegas knows what they're talking about when they set their minds for college football. They didn't say not saying they get them all on point because they don't they're they're wrong on there. They don't hit the spread all the time right on the nose. Vegas should pick the top 12. I don't know who's been saying that. But you none of the teams that had the top four seeds,

None of them won a game. No, final four was. They were all played in the first round. Yeah, the final four. The numbers was what five? It's like 5679 or something. I don't know exactly what it was, but there was no 123 or four and not just that, but all favorites won the game. So that shows you the better teams were in those games because it ain't like they won and then they went to a neutral field and they were underdog and won.

They went to a neutral field and they were a favorite one. not saying just saying. Yeah. All right. NFL Anthony last week had some better games. First game of the week, Kansas City and Houston. think the story of that game.

was the refs. no doubt. The refs were a little bit iffy there. Look, I have made fun people for talking shit about these refs all the time in Kansas City, but I'm gonna tell you what.

Something was iffy. Couple of those were iffy. Charlie, I've been saying, listen, I haven't been that guy either. So I like to joke about it, but I don't think to me, like if people's cheating, it's players and a lot of it in college football where they're trying to throw the game. I don't think they're like NFL setting up games or refs. I've never believed that. Well, probably about two or three Kansas City games ago, the controversial games, I started asking you, do you believe it? And you say, no, no, no. And I was just then starting

like, this happening? I still don't know. Is it happening? But man, you start to question it. Don't you, Charlie? That was some iffy ones. Look, the first one was the slide, the late slide by my homes when he was a runner, Barry late slide. And he got any, and he has two defenders come in at him looking to put a whooping on him. they was coming at him and they actually ended up hitting their cell, their cell.

They ended up helmeted their own teammates and kind of missed my homes. But the way they were flying in there, got that call. I don't like the call at all. like I told you, I think most of the NFL quarterbacks are going to get that call. That's a shame. But I think that call is a hundred percent wrong for one reason. The slide is some bullshit.

I said it with Doc Prescott last year and I like that. I have no problem against that. I like that a lot actually probably more than most. But I've seen it with him and we seen it with my homes when he was going out of bounds on that other plate. They're trying to draw them penalties. Charlie, you should not be able to try to draw like a personal foul light hit penalty. Not only do I think you shouldn't be able to do it, but I think they need to start throwing penalties on the quarterback for late slides.

If you really want, if we want to protect them, if you really want to be protected, slide earlier. Or if you get, like I say in basketball, if you get caught flopping, it's a technical on you. If you, if you get away with it and you sell it fine. you know, sometimes you'll flop and the officials will be all over It should be a technical on you. I agree. A hundred percent. These quarterbacks sliding late is

Becoming a problem because as a defender What you're playing in the biggest game of your life. It's ridiculous. They it's ridiculous. They're you're trying to do your job and then you have to have this thought while you're All amped up and going a hundred miles an hour and giving everything you got and in that split second because It's a certain player or a certain number on their Jersey. You have to react differently

It's not fair to the defenders. I understand protecting the quarterback. I understand protecting unprotected players, punters, receivers when they're up, whatever. There is times where you got to protect these guys who we've seen it. Some of these guys that played when we were kids are dying players that were playing when our parents were younger, them guys, a lot of them guys are beat up big time. So I understand there is happy medium.

There is. I get what they say they're trying to do. I'm with you. I heard Tom Brady say this and I talked to you about it before I ever heard it. Well, then why are they promoting benefiting from the quarterback running the ball so much now if they really want to protect them?

They want the points. Yeah, it's not about protecting them. the NFL has never been about protecting their players. They just have it. No, that's about point. They pretend to they pretend to do Brady made that point, but I talked to you about it before, but I think it's a great point. If we're really trying to protect them, why are we promoting it celebrating it? All these quarterback runs. We got quarterbacks now that weigh 200 pounds and we were a kid.

We got a quarterback in the league. He's a good quarterback. He's 6'4", 200 pounds. When we were kids, you had to be a big guy to be a quarterback because you were going to take some hits. But let's don't contradict ourselves and say, we're here to protect the quarterback because if we were really protecting the quarterback,

we wouldn't be promoting and celebrating the running game of the quarterback so much. All right, so let's talk about the other big story of this Kansas City game.

Kansas City's leading 23 to 12, up 11. They got the ball with a minute and so left. And what are we doing, Anthony? I'm picking up Texas Roadhouse from a family. Well, I'm counting seconds again. Yeah, me too. I'm counting right there with you. seconds. I'm trying to figure out. And I'm going to give Anthony credit again, because I called him.

You did say they're going to run out and get a safety. And at that point I'm thinking, no, they're not. I even said, no, they're not. They're going to run it on second down and they're going to try to get this first down. Well, my math in my head was not adding up because well, actually it did add up because they had- just thought they were going to it. You just thought they were- Yeah. I thought with it not adding up, they're going to be 15 to 20 seconds left. Still up two scores, punt it. Go.

to me go get the first down. Yeah, but I get it. to me on second down. You already got four yards. Just run it, try to get the first down and seal the game up. They kneeled it on second. They kneeled it on third. My big thing is if you're going to do that, what my homes didn't do was try to kind of burn. He did burn like one or two seconds and then note, but I feel like he should have tried to burn three or four more seconds. Each of those two plays.

But they were up two scores. he knew he was 99.9 % still going to win it. But yeah, I'm with you. So Anthony calls it on second down. They're going to run out and get a safety. Well, I got off the phone and that's what they did. If y'all saw it, kneeled it on second, kneeled it on third, fourth and 15. They line up for a punt, punter catches it, runs out the back of the end zone for a safety. They win by nine. I had him at nine and a half. Yep. So I'll tell you.

That was another spread that bounced around a bunch that week. So I heard people had him at eight, had him at eight and a half, had him at nine, and I had him at the worst number, which was nine and a half. The funny thing real quick before you get into yours, the funny thing about this is that, look, when you said they're going to run out for say, I understood what you were saying and why they were doing it. I don't particularly agree with it. Sure. To me, I just say, go get that first down.

But you can argue if you find- I don't agree with it either. So it is what it is. But I understood what they were doing and it was their work. Once you get to fourth and 15 in that situation, that is the right play because you don't want to punt right there. Because if you punt- You get a punt, you get a free kick, kick it You get little bit better kick in position. But my only problem with it is this. You're still up by two scores at that point. You're still a 99.9 % winner from there. But with that way about taking a safety,

You're probably a 99.99 % winner from there. It moves it up, but it moves, you're gonna win. You're still up two scores 15 seconds to go. They literally would have to block the kick, get it, and there would probably only be four seconds left. They'd have to kick on inside kicks, which they can't advance. The game would be over. It was mathematically over And so my only argument with it is I see the football play in it.

But where I get mad at Andy Reid, take care of your fans, Take care of your fans. Ryan Day, figured out a way to cover for his betters, didn't he? Yeah, I'm just saying though. mean, like, I've always said on this show, I never want gambling and football to cross because... But he wants Andy Reid to cover for us. Yes. Boy, do it. Listen, if it was, I would not be upset if it was...

Anything like if it was gonna take it from 99.9 to just 99 heck. Yeah, you got to do the right football That's almost 1 % but we are talking about You were gonna win it either way. That was almost impossible to lose it from there You gave yourself a little bit better kicking position at that point You got people bet these games They're your fans. That's who's bets on you as people that like you

No, I don't like it, Andy. I don't like it. I definitely see the football play. That's what made me think of it. You know, I thought, he's still gonna be down two scores. He'll take the safety, have a better spot to kick from. But at the end of the day, they were gonna cover either way. Tell you something crazy about mine, Charlie. So I had them a nine and half, too. Well, I get looking through my tickets. Half my bets were a nine and a half, half of them were at nine. I don't have an app. I make them all in person. I made them all at the same time.

Well, it hit me. When I was making my bet, something came up and said, line has moved right in the middle of me going to hit accept. Do you want to take them at nine and half? I never really think about odds a lot. always just take the, don't buy odds. just say, you know, it is what it is. I like them at that. got to take them. Well, it asked me that nine and a half. That was it. And so halfway, half my bets were at nine and half of them were nine and a half. I thought they were all at nine and a half. got.

looking through my bets and I had some of nine. So I got pushed on a few of them, but it still cost me a decent little chunk of money cost me too and cost us on all four of our Blitz the Bucky parlor. I still argue with Charlie. I've, he knows I've been arguing, but said, I know we nine and a half on the show. I he got the wrong line. I'd love to give us the wind. think he had I've seen nowhere where they were nine and a half on

believe I know you we said it on here. I got it. If you remember on the show, I said, are you sure Charlie? always double check. Yeah, we did. Marked him out. I believe you got it marked down. I do believe you. But I checked like there's there's websites you can go on. It shows you the odds tracker throughout the week. It actually shows you every hour of the week in Vegas. you know, it didn't move the nine and a half to late. So I was trying to give us credit on blitz the bookie. But we did say nine and a half on the show. Fair enough. Charlie is right on that.

The funny part, though, was I understood what was going on, but there was a lot, I a lot of people, even in some group texts that I was in, they had no clue what the hell, they're cheating. they're cheating. They're trying to go, Vegas is cheating.

It was the right play once you get to fourth and 15. Yeah. But my thing is don't get the fourth and second down, run the ball, get six yards and then kneel it out and win. Or if you're trying to do It was 15 seconds left on fourth down play, on second down,

If Mahomes burns three more seconds and on third down, he burns three more seconds by backpedaling or whatever. Now there's nine or eight seconds left. I think with nine or eight seconds left, your punter might be able to mess around for one, two, three, and pun it as high and as far as he possibly can and just hope by the time it lands, the game's over, right? They weren't thinking about the betters or maybe they were thinking about the other side of the bed. I don't know, but didn't have the betters in their mind.

My big thing is your betters are your fans. I understand but we're living in a betting world. You're making money off that. There's money coming into you as a team because of betting. I'm, I don't want you to make decisions based off betting and never, but I do think I do. Well, it's cause both ways you're not the odds are you're going to win the

but tell your quarterback more than one or two seconds before you kneel it down. Yeah, we got we're have 15 We need to get it to under 10. Yeah, he wasn't worried. It's he had a two score lead I'm with you know, I'm mad. I was so Kansas City again they're headed to

AFC Championship. Did anybody doubt it? the roller coaster rides of game when the block Phil go high as a kite that happened. It felt like somebody took a knife and shoved it in your stomach. Oh, about 15 second difference. He's talking about some highs and lows son. Almost happened again last night with the Ohio state dude. I I did. I know I did. All right. Saturday night.

The upset of the week. The way it's I did say it. was worried about it. I was worried about it. And I said, if there was going to be an upset, even though I like the Rams, I was worried about the commanders. Not only do they win, they win by 14 force five turnovers by the Lions. probably played one of their worst games of the year. Five turnovers.

Not good ones either. Some really bad throws. was just... Golf was bad. Yeah, he was was bad. It wasn't even forced turnovers. He was floating balls. I'm sure they would love to have Matthew Stafford back right at that moment. that was wild one. 45 to 31. 14 point win on the road. Detroit fans...

Hate it, forum.

I wish they had a of could go 15 and two and get a one seed one time. had a lot of injuries. I do believe. Look, I'm not the biggest Detroit fan. I'm not a hater. I'm kind of in the middle with Detroit. I do think they were good, but man, they're they had a lot of injuries, a lot of injuries. They'll be back. a fully healthy Detroit team would have been harder for anybody to be.

Daniel's had another good game, 300 yards, two touchdowns.

I said it last week. I'll say it again. Washington's got an angel on their shoulder, dude. They've got something going on this year and I like it. I like it. I like Jayden we all know what happens at sophomore season. Usually people get a better read on you. We'll see what happens when that time comes. But my man's a rookie and he's planning to go to the super bowl. No doubt.

Listen, I like Jaden Daniels, you know, I'm gonna bring this up because I said it to you So I'm gonna bring it up You get a chance guys. Just look it up. I'm not saying I don't think Jake Daniels is good. I actually think he is good But this does make me question it But I do like him. I really do. I Liked him in college. the backup quarterback Mariota This year every time he's come in the game

He has killed it. He played the game against Dallas. I think Daniels went down. He was like three for six. Daniels was. Mariota ended up going like 17 to 22 touchdowns, no interceptions. But you can go back and look at all Mariota's stats for all of his seasons he's played in the NFL. The highest QBR he's had for a season was like 92. year he has and he actually has a bigger sample size than you would think.

This year, his QBR is 131, four touchdowns, no interceptions. And every time he's come in the game, he's done good. Now that's taking nothing away from Daniels. I guess it is, makes me question a little bit. Is it a great offense? Is it all day? Is it all what we're seeing with Daniels with our eyes? and I guess only time will tell, but I do like Daniels. That's taking nothing away from him. Maybe Mariota. You think he might should get Mariota a knows what he is by now. He's been in the.

damn near 10 years, hasn't he? Charlie thinks I'm crazy, but I'm not, I'm not even sitting. I'm not even saying backup. That's what that's what he is. He's a good backup. Does any, is anybody going to want him as their starting quarterback? I doubt it. I doubt it. I don't think the commanders have a great offense. I think they're a well coached my question to you is those.

six, five, six games that they won in the fourth quarter on the last drive or on the last play. Sure. Can they win those games with Mary? I don't know. they even have to? I don't. And that's ridiculous. And I'm saying that Marriott would have no, I'm just saying, Oh dude, I'm saying go look at the numbers. Go look at that. 14. They wouldn't even have lost five games. That's right. They'd have probably only lost two.

and they'd have never been in a close game, know? So yeah, guys, I know that's ridiculous, but I'm just saying to you, every time he's come in the game this year, he ain't just put up solid numbers, he put up really good numbers when he's coming in. So just check it out when you get a second, go look at me what you think. The Oregon fans will love that. Yeah.

All right, then Sunday, the Rams and the Eagles said a sad, I'm just going to go ahead and say it. think the snow saved them. I do too. The snow saved the Eagles Rams were playing good ball, two fumbles, just a running game for the Eagles. The two, the two turnovers in a row in the third quarter. That was, that was it for the Rams. was, mean, they still had a chance.

miraculously at the end. snow. It almost became the greatest comeback They were down what 14, Yeah. with like four and a half minutes. The Eagles had, they'd went up 14 there and been a close game all the way throughout. Then the Eagles got that touchdown, went up 14 and it was snowing. I mean, took away the pass game for, you know, that's big part of what the Rams do.

There are two fumbles in a row, man, within just a couple minutes of each other. Their defense played good like they had been playing. hats go off to the Rams. I think they were a good team. I think they were able to call Philly just on a dry field. played right into what Philly wanted, And the Rams still made it, got it down to the 20 yard line with a chance to tie it up or win the game Rams played good considering.

weather and the the trip, not only the trip, they had to take a trip last week to Arizona unexpectedly when they were supposed to get a home game and then have to go to Philly and play in the snow. I thought it was if they were if they would have won that Charlie, they would have had a home game against Washington, which they might. I said they've been a slight favorite, maybe a point or two. I would have had it in futures like $11,000 a going, and I didn't even have a lot of invested. I got them at stupid long odds.

like four different times. I could have hedged from that point on, probably would have threw 1500 on the other team. And then if that loss, I would have to 3000, even if both of them lost and the Rams won, I still would have came out about six. I when I say that big number, don't bet like that. That's just, I was getting crazy big odds. Yep. Yep. I had, I had like $90 on them to win like 3000. Yeah. I think I had him at 30 to one and 35 to one. Yeah. I got, got.

Two of my bets is 65 to one.

the two turnovers in a row there in the third quarter won by Williams and then the other one by Stafford looked like he almost damn laid the ball on the ground. You want to talk about cheating. Stafford might be cheating. Look like he just threw the ball on the ground. Let it go. I know he didn't but it damn sure looked like he did. At least there was some snow Lamar look like he did that and there wasn't even no snow. It almost kind of looked the same. Yeah, those those two plays look very similar. I did. I Lamar's actually went to like his

I think he went to the ground with the ball. Stafford really didn't, but it just kind of fell out of his hand. It was weird. those two turnovers right there, that was just it, man. I know they tried to come back there at the end, but the reason they kind of got back in the game, same reason Notre Dame got back in the game. Philly was playing conservative, plus Hertz was hurt. So he couldn't do a whole lot. can't do a whole lot anyways.

But yeah, like feeling I like feeling they're already a conservative team. They are they are. I agree. That's fair. That's very fair. And then hurts is banged up and they're up 15. That's how they play. They they slowed it down, which is what they do. But gave the Rams a chance. They did. they almost did it, man. They almost did it. The third down sack. Yes. Third and two. Yeah, I missed his block. Why don't you run that?

I know I always criticize the play calling. I probably should shut up because I feel like I do that. It's to do. It's fun. It's fun. It's third and two. There was plant. How much time was it was a minute 14 left. I know they didn't have timeouts, but it didn't matter. They were on 13. The time did not matter at that point. Minute and 14 left third and two on the 13th. You gotta run the ball Monday morning quarterback and they, they dropped back in a nine yard sack. And then I'm going be honest that last

The last throw there was probably the worst throw that Stafford had all game. Didn't even really give the guy a chance. I'm not sure if it was maybe a bit of miscommunication on that play. It looked a little bit weird. Stafford doesn't usually throw the ball that far out of place, but I did think that was a bad throw. He didn't even really give the guy a chance. So, sucked that it ended that way,

I had him plus six and a half. I had him plus seven. I did too. everybody pretty much they were six and a half for anybody bet on that day. So you were good. If you bet the Rams, you had a winner. good season by the Rams. No doubt. Philly moves on. How many more years staffer guy left in him? I don't know.

Hopefully a couple more because I love watching them. They got a good young defense. They got some good receivers with Puka. Stanford to me when I watch him, it's just like watching bliss. I enjoy it. It's throwback to, the true gunslinger. That's right. That's right. Many of them left. No, know you've heard us talk about it plenty of times, the quarterback position, but the Rams have one of the true gunslingers.

You see it when he throws his ball. It's so tight. It's so pretty. He throws it, right where it needs to be. I'm not saying all the time, but man, them guys were just so accurate. So they knew what they had to do with the ball. Maybe some of it's cause they couldn't move, man. It's pretty to watch sometimes. And then the last game of the weekend, we said it was going to be the best game of the weekend. was the Rams game was pretty good.

Yeah, but it was this was a good game. We knew it would be Lamar and Josh Allen. The showdown MVP argument.

Ravens first drive touchdown. Buffalo first drive touchdown. Two long drives.

Said, shit, we in for some shit right here. And then what happens? Lamar interception, Lamar fumble. Buffalo touchdown 14 to seven, change the game right there a little bit. Those two turnovers, luckily they came early because there was another turnover in the game that was later in the game that looked a lot worse. And it was, it was bad timing, but

Two turnovers there.

Second half I Guess we'll just talk about it mark Andrews Yeah, I don't know if he got back on the plane or the bus I'd listen it's I hate it for the he screwed up probably the most reliable Raven on the roster. I agree over the past However long he's been on their team. He's been super reliable for them. I they said it on the broadcast

First fumble since 2019 and only a second fumble in his whole career. Yeah. and he fumbles at the worst time. Baltimore stays in it scores to go down to two point conversion hits Andrews right in the hands, bobbles it, drops it. What a tied the game.

Look, let's not pretend that the game was over, that Baltimore was going to win that game because that was going to tie it up with one. How much time was left? Anthony? A minute and a half. would have still liked to have had Buffalo just to need to give Phil go just to get a feel. And I feel like when Buffalo needed to move the ball in that game, they were able to. they got conservative there when they had that lead, but I feel like when they needed to move it, they were able to move it.

I hate it for it. I hate it for Andrews. do. You know, I'm not a Ravens fan, but I do, man. I hate it for them. You know, I was happy. Look, as a Kentucky fan, I knew, I know Lamar fumbles in the big so I look, I took my dig, enjoyed that. So, but I will say this. I did like, how Lamar picked him up after the game on the podium and I thought that was awesome. I'm not a Lamar fan.

Not Lamar and it's not even so much it's he played up for a rival team of mine that I hate and he's good. and he's not the kind of quarterback I like far as I like a more of a pocket passer, but in saying that he really picked Mark up after the game. I thought that was really big of him. And my hat goes off to Lamar for picking his dude up. And I think Lamar realized, his two turnovers were pretty bad. All of them, all of them mattered just as much.

So happened that Andrews happened later in the game. And then he had to drop, which, that compounded the fumble that he had. So I was happy. yeah. I was happy to look, I picked, I picked the bills. I'm not a Ravens fan, but I've got some of my best friends are Ravens fans. My mom, my stepdad, my whole family up there is all Ravens fans. Is your mom's, she Ravens fan? Yeah, she is.

They're all Ravens fans. I don't like the Redskins or nothing. No, no, I won't get on them too bad because I know that this is kind of like us with like Kentucky basketball. Yeah, it hurts. hurts in your soul. And I'm gonna give them a few days. I haven't even I only messaged one of my buddies and I didn't even I didn't even mess with him. I just kind of asked him what he was thinking about Andrews today. I wasn't being a dick. I was just being

You're right. Seriously. You're right. I know how that is as a Kentucky fan, stuff like it. Yeah, that's bad. Yeah. So I, you know, I'm not trying to dig on them too much. Of course I did have Buffalo pig, but I did see this Anthony and sucks. So look at this video. It looks like two or three years ago, Baltimore playing Cincinnati in the playoffs. They fumble on the about to go in on the one yard line and Cincinnati ends up

winning that game. That was like three years ago. That's how they lost in the playoffs. The next year right here.

playing Tennessee. Derek Henry throws the little jump pass to ultimately beat Baltimore that year. I remember that last year. Flowers diving into the end zone fumbles on the one yard line against Kansas city. Yeah. Remember that.

And now this.

Dude, that's some bad beats. That is some bad beats. Just so happened to run across that video the other day after they lost. That's some bad, I think that's four years in a row. I don't know if they're in a row, but they're, you know, the last handful of years, but they, man, the Ravens fans, I feel for you guys. I do. I feel for you. I love you. I love y'all. Okay. I don't love the Ravens, but I love y'all.

we're on to two championship games this weekend. we only got three NFL games left. College football is over and NFL is wrapping up. Both games will be on Sunday. first game is going to be who is the first one?

Washington at Philly, Washington of Philly, Philly's at home minus six.

Washington scares me again, Anthony. I got them at five and a half. Five and a half right now? No, no, no, they're at minus six now. Okay, you got them at five and a I already made my bet. I got you. So who you got at five and a half? I the Eagles. Got the Eagles. I think it's a bad matchup for Washington. I think this is going to be the toughest defense Washington's faced in some been facing some easier defenses. Eagles had the number one pass defense in the country.

Washington has a really bad run defense. Their pass defense is decent, but Philly likes to run the ball. it's at home as much as we've, been celebrating Jane Daniels, which rightfully so. I think the Detroit defense was banged up. Then it was Tampa. They didn't even score a lot of points on them. Tampa had one of the worst pass defenses in the, in the league. Detroit was in the second half of the season.

at the bottom of a lot of the defensive metrics. thought the Falcons outplayed them and they played the Eagles twice this year. The last game they played them they beat them that was one of the but Philly was actually up 21 to 7 Hurts got hurt and Kenny Pickett was in they played super conservative Washington was able to come back in the game it wasn't his best game he actually threw two picks in that game.

But just Washington got super conservative and came back and was able to win there late. But then the game before that when Hertz played, they actually were up 28 to 10 with like 20 seconds to go. Now Washington got like a junk touchdown with 20 seconds to go. Jalen Hertz actually threw 28 times, which is unusual for them. He had a big game. I look for him to have a big game in this game. I look for Washington to come out and try to really stop, do everything they can to stop the run.

Philly will actually try to mix it up I think they'll try to be all hands on deck to try to stop the run out. That could give, some throwing opportunities to Jaylen hurts. And with what happened last game where they Washington back in the game, once hurts got hurt and they got conservative, I think they'll keep the gas down. think Philly wins. better try to the run because they allowed 200 to Detroit and they allowed over 200 in both of the Philly matchups this.

earlier this year. And we know what Philly does. Run the ball. They run the ball. And my question is how hurt is Jalen hurts? Cause he got, he did get pretty banged up there. I think, what was it a knee or something? Was the lower, was, it was a leg injury. How much will that affect him running? Will they run him as much? They already showed that after he got banged up, they weren't going to that tush push. They went away from the tush push twice.

at least twice after he got banged up. So it will affect their play calling, just how much we it's hard to tell. Jalen hurts is tough. He's going to play and he'll play through injuries too. If he can, he's a game manager. You know, I do think that that will affect the play calling a little They're still going to be able to run the ball, of course, cause they got Saquon Barkley, but the duo of those two running together.

and the threat of both of those running helps out each of them. no So if the threat of hurts running is considerably less, what does that do to Barclays the problem is Washington's run defense is If Detroit can run

for 200 on them when they were trailing the whole game and still ran for 200. That's pretty impressive. If you think about it, they were losing, getting beat in that game and by a couple of touchdowns late and they still ran for 200 yards. That's a problem. when Jared golf's your quarterback. Yeah, you know, he doesn't run. He's not getting a lot of times. These yards are coming from some of these quarterbacks nowadays, but not from golf.

Look, they split these games in the regular season, but the game that Washington won, that was the game that hurts got injured, right? Am I wrong about that? I got injured after the, think the second score. They were up 21 to seven at that game. Washington does really scare me here. Settled for four field goals in the second half. They scored four times. Yeah, they had scored four times in the second half. They had four field goals.

and they actually had a miss field go right before the half. That's a formula to get you beat. I think they can win this game. I'm gonna take Philly minus the six only because the run defense scares me.

Washington can put up some Philly has the number one past the, in the NFL, the little place I look at for Philly pass defense. Yeah. Jayden Daniels is going to be up against it. I know this is a division rival and y'all know how I feel about division rivals, but this is a rookie on the road in one of the hardest places to play in the NFL.

I'm going to take Philly minus six, but I'm going to be honest. I'll probably have a small money line bet on Washington just to have it. And I have not looked at the over under on this game. I don't know what it is, but I think it's going to be a high scoring is the over under? You know what it is? Over under is 47 and half. That's a little higher than I thought it would be.

Like I don't think I like the over. Because I think Washington is going to be able to score. with the Rams put up 20 Rams put up 23. What was the final score to that game? I want to say they scored 20. That's on the road in the snow. If they can put up 20 Washington scoring in the 20s. So I think Philly's going to have to score, especially to cover the to cover the number.

I think it's a high scoring game. for the pick. I'm to go. I'm going to go Philly, but Washington does scare me again. but the luck's got to run out rookie quarterback on the road. I don't see the rookie making it to the super bowl. Now we'll Baltimore fans. Will that be pulling against Washington? Is that arrival of others up there? No, not really.

It should be. You're in the same area. I don't think there's a lot of hate for the Redskins. I really don't. Maybe some people do. Maybe that was everybody's team before Baltimore got there. I know they have a right. There's probably some that were, yeah, there's probably some, know a handful of my friends when we were kids, some Dallas fans, some 49ers fans. I didn't know a lot of Redskins fans. I really didn't kind of weird because

Washington's only 45 minutes away and there's plenty of them in that area. I just didn't know a ton of them, There's probably Ravens fans that

You change your team. If you're a Redskins fan, you jump to the, I don't know. I graduated from U of L, but I was a UK fan. I didn't switch my team when I, when I started going to U of L, that's, UK's rival. that would never. No, no way. I wore my shirts down there every day. That would never happen. All right. Well, that's the first game. And then we got Buffalo at Kansas city.

Did anybody really doubt that this was going to be the matchup? know the Ravens fans did, but did anybody else really doubt that this was going to be the AFC championship? I doubted it. I was scared of, but yeah, I get what you're saying. here we are getting used to this matchup. No doubt. is becoming a rivalry, maybe like a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning type of thing. These guys are

meeting every year in the playoffs and here we go again.

I don't like that Buffalo won the first matchup.

I like the revenge factor when it comes to games like this and it does worry me that Buffalo won that first I also don't like trends.

I ran across the little Trent number one seeds in the conference championship game are like 20 and five in the last 25 years. It's a pretty big number.

I'm not going to sit here and spit off a bunch of stats for this. know who these teams are. But I will say one thing, Buffalo, they struggle on the short intermediate passes and my homes thrives off of that. Buffalo needs to key on Kelsey.

and try to stop those short passes and make my home stretch the field on him. He's living and dying by those dump offs this year. And what we've talked about the buy time and make something happen. He's the king of that too. Lock up 87 and make him beat you deep with some other guys. that's the best I got for you. Ultimately to me, the stats don't matter in this game.

I think it's going to come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes. And look, with these two guys, there might not be any mistakes. Might be zero. If that's the case, who's got the ball last? it's either whoever makes the least mistakes or who ends up with that ball last, because I see this one being a classic. I think it's going to come right down to the end like most of these games do.

I don't think Buffalo makes the mistakes. I've told you all Josh Allen is on a mission. taken care of the ball. I think that continues here. But Anthony, I'm going to take Buffalo and I've got one main reason why. Because they got an edge with the refs. The refs.

are feeling the pressure. don't think they're on tik tok. Okay, they see the people bitch Charlie, they bet it's been going on a while. I would give you that. I like that angle. I like that angle. It's happening this week. They're flipping it this week. I'm telling you the pressure has been on them. The refs are feeling the pressure. They've seen all the videos with them in the red and white jerseys We've seen the memes of the refs kissing Patrick Mahomes on the lips.

They've seen it. It's flipping this week. All the calls are going to Buffalo. Buffalo's got the refs in their pocket. Roll with Buffalo. I'm telling you, it's flipping this week. actually like, I'm going to go. I don't want to hear no bitching about the refs this I'm gonna bet some prop bets. I'm not going to pick the game. No, I'm joking.

don't know who to pick in this game. I really don't. I some futures on both of them. I'm kinda trying to cover myself where balance is out equal. So it's tough for me. I would like to Buffalo win. I like Josh Allen. But I tell you, I got Kansas City in my futures and I've kinda been on to Kansas City. It's a tough bet.

You know, you know, you can't do it. You know, you cannot do it. It's tough, dude. I really don't know who to take. It's hurting. I know who you're going to take because you ain't said it yet. It's hurting you to say it. I don't know. He's taking Kansas. I'm going to take it. He was taking Buffalo. He'd already said I'm Kansas City. No, no reason. The only reason I'm look, I can't say this. I'm on back come Sunday. So because I've

I'll change my mind 10 times before then. But told y'all, I finally quit trying to beat them probably about with the third of the season left. I finally told Charlie, I give, They're lucky. They got the refs on the payroll. My dad used to tell me if somebody's cheating, you just need to figure out who's cheating and get in with them. So I'm just trying to get on the side with the winning team, I would like to see, I would love to see Josh Allen win the game.

I'm covered enough on futures. probably don't have to bet a lot. So I'll watch as a fan. I would love to see Buffalo win it, but if I'm picking, I'm not picking against the Chiefs. Tony, Kansas City's not the cheaters. The refs are the cheaters and the cheaters are flipping the script this refs are talking about it. They like don't think so, son. They swore loyalty to him.

listen. I'd love to see Josh Allen in the game. I'm a big Josh Allen fan. I like McDermott. I like the bills. don't even mind Kansas City. sometimes seems like they get so lucky, luck runs out this week for Washington and Kansas City. hear you. I'm not probably betting this game. I got my future, so I'm going to pull for Buffalo, but just for the sake of picking, I'd probably pick Kansas City.

So that's who I got, Kansas City. Don't say you didn't on Blitz the Bookie first. The refs are flipping the script this week. Mahomes is getting no calls. Charlie's doing drugs. And Buffalo is winning the game on the road in Kansas City to send Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills to the Super Andy Reid, they know where the bodies are buried, can't. The referees can't.

They know where the bodies are buried. Heard it here first. Just letting you know. Alright guys, well that is about it for this week.

We will be back same time, same place next week with a Super Bowl set. Hopefully it is Buffalo and Philly. I'd like it Super Bowl. I would like to have a good one. It was, I know I said Buffalo

I was on Buffalo and Philly. I just didn't say it, but whatever. That's all right. That's fair. I hate it. I did that when we picked the beginning of the playoffs when we ran through. I just knew I was going to say Buffalo and Philly and I ended up saying Buffalo and Detroit, but it is what it is. Guys have fun this week. When some money, I guess we don't have a blitz. The bookie parlay this week. No, just bet Philly. We like, that's all we got. do like Philly.

I do like all we gots Philly catch you next week. We'll be jumping on board with the college basketball a little bit more in these next coming weeks. think Kentucky is off this week. They play Saturday against Vanderbilt Vanderbilt just beat Tennessee a couple of days ago. So isn't that far away? Nope. So we'll be jumping into the college basketball here in the next couple of weeks. Guys have a good weekend. When some money blitz the bookie.

Yep, see y'all. Stay warm out there.
